Steve DeaconBorn and raised in Chicago, Steve holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Purdue University. He spent the next 10 years gaining valuable experience and moving up through the construction ranks with Turner Construction and Continental Heller on projects from Ohio to Georgia to California. In July of 1981, S.D. Deacon was founded with Steve as the managing partner along with three other financial associates. Since that time, S.D. Deacon has grown from a company with revenue of $1.5 million in 1982 to a company with offices in Portland, Seattle, Sacramento and Irvine, 450 employees and revenues of $550 million in 2008. The company is the largest retail contractor on the west coast and builds hotels, mixed-use, high-tech facilities, office buildings and most other types of commercial building projects. In 1999, the company was reorganized to allow key employees to be shareholders, of which there are now over 85.

Steve’s philosophy of doing business focuses on treating others with respect and using an approach based on open communication, honesty, cooperation and teamwork. Since the mid ’80s, Steve has been involved in commercial real estate development and investment on a variety of retail, office and apartment projects. In about 2000, Steve began to focus more on real estate culminating in the 2006 creation of the Deacon Development Group as an official member of the Deacon family of companies.
